A little update from Lago Maggiore 💙💦

Despite some worrying headlines you may have seen, the water quality around Maccagno is looking good and the local bathing areas are classified as suitable for swimming. 🏊‍♀️☀️

The blue-green algae reported earlier this summer was in the northern, Swiss part of Lago Maggiore around Locarno/Muralto. The situation there has since cleared. No problems with blue-green algae or pollutants have been reported here in the Maccagno/Varese area.

So yes… there is still plenty of water in Lago Maggiore 😉😂 and we’re happily enjoying it!

As always with any lake, especially during hot weather, have a quick look at the water before swimming. Clear water with no unusual green patches or streaks is a good sign.
