Travelogue: Holiday at Lago Maggiore

For their unforgettable road trip, Rebecca and her husband chose the picturesque and quieter eastern shore of Lago Maggiore and found a peaceful oasis at our Lagocamp campsite in Maccagno.

An unforgettable road trip by Rebecca and her husband

Rebecca and her husband opted for an unforgettable road trip on the picturesque and quieter eastern shore of Lago Maggiore. Their destination was our beautiful campsite, Lagocamp in Maccagno, which served as a peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In their own blog, they share their impressions and experiences during their stay with us.

The Lagocamp campsite: a paradise on Lago Maggiore

Our campsite on Lago Maggiore, off the beaten track, not only offers an idyllic location, but also direct access to the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Rebecca reports on her pitch number 111, which not only has its own palm tree, but also a breathtaking view of Lago Maggiore from the second row. “The water on the eastern shore is particularly clear,” enthuses Rebecca, “nothing stands in the way of a refreshing swim on the fine pebble beach.”

Maccagno: a charming little town in the immediate vicinity

The charming town of Maccagno, just a stone’s throw away, offers all the necessary amenities for campers, including restaurants and bars. The lakeside promenade and the small pilgrimage church of Madonna della Punta, which Rebecca and her husband visited, are perfect for evening strolls. “From here you have a marvellous view over the lake, the surrounding mountains and the town,” says Rebecca enthusiastically.

Excursion to Cannobio: a must for every visitor

A special experience was their trip to Cannobio on the west bank, where they travelled directly from the campsite on the passenger ferry. The Sunday market in Cannobio is a must for every visitor. Here you can immerse yourself in the colourful hustle and bustle and enjoy Italian delicacies such as olives, salami and fresh bread, which are ideal for an evening aperitif. Rebecca recommends “comparing prices and haggling to get the best deal at the market.”

Visit to Luino: The largest weekly market on Lago Maggiore

A visit to Luino should also be on your list, where the largest weekly market on Lago Maggiore attracts campers and locals alike every Wednesday. “It’s a great opportunity to experience the local flavour and pick up some unique souvenirs,” adds Rebecca.
